Things to Consider with Car Tires

Do not speed on bad roads, tires wear out faster on rough, potholed roads. If you are going on a long trip with a loaded car, increase the tire pressure by 2 PSI, as the air in the tires decreases due to the weight. Regularly check the air pressure of your spare tire. Using winter tires provides superior grip and traction on snowy and icy roads. However, if you use winter tires in the summer, this effect reverses, and your car's grip decreases.

If you are not going to use your vehicle for a long time, park your vehicle on a level surface, release the handbrake, and place chocks under the wheels.

* Do not use cleaning products containing chemicals and petroleum to shine your tires. By using products specially formulated for tires, you can prevent the chemical layer on the tire and extend the life of your tire.

* When parking your vehicle, be careful not to hit the curb, stones, or hard objects.

* It is advisable to replace your tires if their outer tread depth is less than 1.6 mm.

* If you will be driving your car in areas with bad weather conditions, increase your tire pressure by 2-3 degrees against snow and ice; this will provide better traction and grip.

* For vehicles that have not been used for a long time, do not over-inflate the tire pressures; instead, lower them.

* Always keep the valve caps closed.

* Even if your tires are in good condition during the cold winter months, avoid excessive speeding; no tire provides perfect grip.

* Sudden braking and acceleration in snowy weather cause skidding and slipping. In such situations, accelerate more slowly and brake calmly.
