What Do 1D and 2D Mean in Barcode Scanners

What to Know About 1D and 2D Barcodes

There are generally two types of barcode models. 1D barcodes are products that are more common today, in the form of straight lines containing a certain amount of information within them, and are also known as industrial barcode printers. 2D barcodes, on the other hand, are used more frequently in the healthcare sector and have recently started to be used in many different sectors. 2D barcodes can easily read all types of barcodes, including 1D barcode models. Today, depending on the types of barcodes used as industrial barcode printers, they vary in different scanner models. 1D barcodes are used by preferring 1D barcode scanners, and 2D barcodes are used by preferring 2D scanners. 2D barcode scanners read all barcodes, including 1D. For these reasons, their prices are higher than 1D barcode scanner models.

What Are the Warranty Periods for Barcode Printers?

Barcode printers always have a 2-year warranty period. However, it should be known that in these products, which are among the industrial barcode printer models, the thermal head of no device, i.e., the head that performs the printing operations, is covered by the warranty. Accordingly, if the thermal head of a device under warranty breaks down or is damaged in any way, it is not covered by the warranty, and repair processes are carried out by companies at an additional cost, or it is recommended to purchase a different thermal head.
