We can define collecting as researching, carefully gathering, and maintaining objects in any area of interest, accumulating them over the years, and increasing their numbers. For those interested in collections or collecting, what museums are available to visit in our country and abroad? Let's take a look together. In fact, if you wish, let's start with abroad first.

Louvre Museum (Louvre Museum / le Musée du Louvre)

This art and culture museum, located in Saint Petersburg, Russia, is actually too magnificent to be included in such recommendations. To clarify, this museum is one of the oldest and largest in the world. Although founded in the 18th century (1764) by Tsarina Catherine the Great, it was opened for service almost a century later (1852). The museum has the largest painting collection in the world. It even holds a Guinness World Record for this. Imagine a museum with approximately 3 million works of art... That's how big it is. However, only a very small portion of all this is exhibited. So, we are telling you this so you don't imagine counting a figure like 3 million if you happen to visit. As for the collections in the museum; you can find collections consisting of Egyptian antiquities, Classical antiquities, and works of fine arts from Italy, Spain, Germany, England, France, and Switzerland, as well as works from the Renaissance period. Located in Paris, the cultural capital of the world, and being the most famous in the world, this museum is not only a museum of collections but also the most visited art museum in the world. It houses approximately 400,000 objects in 8 separate sections. Of course, not all of these are exhibited either. There are around 35-40 thousand exhibited works. We can count Egyptian artifacts, Near Eastern artifacts, Greek and Roman artifacts among its main collection objects. Also, as an extra piece of information, the world-famous Mona Lisa is also exhibited in this museum. After these two magnificent museums, let's conclude with a unique museum from our country. This museum is one of the most unique museums in our country and houses the largest collection of industrial machinery. The museum, consisting of 3 separate sections: the workshops, the shipyard, and the outdoor exhibition area, is located in the Hasköy district of Istanbul. It is also worth mentioning that it frequently hosts events such as concerts and special exhibitions. Its collection includes a variety of industrial and transportation machines, from airplanes to locomotives. Among the main exhibits you can see are: the 1898 Malden Steam Automobile, G10 Locomotive, "SS Kalender" Ship Steam Engine, Thomas Edison Patented Model, TCG Uluçalireis Submarine.
